Rainbrand vs Writer: your brand inside one AI platform, or in the agents you already use?
Writer applies your brand inside its own enterprise AI platform, while Rainbrand gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and your own product the brand guidance and assets each task needs. We compare where each is stronger and how to move your brand from Writer to Rainbrand.
TL;DR
If your team or agency works through Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or its own agents, choose Rainbrand: it maintains the brand, gives each task the guidance and files it needs, and reviews the work. Writer is stronger when you’re buying a governed AI platform where marketing, sales and support work in WRITER Agent and shared playbooks. Move your agents’ brand to Rainbrand from the Enterprise Brain files Writer lets you download.
A platform, or the agents you already use
Writer answers “which AI platform should our teams work in?”, with the brand built into that platform. Rainbrand answers “how do the agents and products we already use get our brand?” It maintains each brand from your own sources and gives an agent a Brief: the guidance and files for the task in front of it.
Writer’s brand features have changed this year: its help center says Enterprise Brain replaces the earlier voice profiles, style guide and terms list. Enterprise Brain launched in early access in September 2026.
How WRITER holds your brand
Writer is an enterprise AI platform for marketing and revenue teams. People hand work to WRITER Agent, and Playbooks turn it into repeatable workflows a team can test and share. Knowledge Graph grounds answers in company data, and the agent runs Writer’s Palmyra models or others an admin enables. For brand work:
- Enterprise Brain holds brands built from your website or guidelines, with sections for voice, visual identity and language, rules tagged Must, Should, Avoid or Never, and a content library of logos, fonts and examples. WRITER Agent applies it on every generation. It requires an Enterprise plan.
- Writing checks test AI output for punctuation, grammar, readability, inclusivity and approved terms, and flag issues in people’s writing in Google Docs, Word and Figma. A check of generated images against the visual identity isn’t documented as of October 2026.
- Branded decks come from a PowerPoint template uploaded as a presentation theme.
Outside Writer, WRITER MCP, Writer’s server for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), lets Claude, Cursor and other clients run published playbooks, download their files and read meeting recordings. Writer calls Enterprise Brain “a universal context layer for your teams and agents”, but the help center says MCP access to it is in “very early access”, requested through your account team.
What Claude can reach
Say your marketer asks Claude for a launch email and an Instagram post.
| Piece | With WRITER MCP connected | With Rainbrand connected |
|---|---|---|
| Launch email | Claude runs a published playbook as the team that owns it, so the email should use that team’s Enterprise Brain brand. Works best when a tested playbook exists | A Brief with voice and wording guidance; Claude writes it |
| Instagram post | Writer makes it only if a playbook covers it; otherwise Claude gets no colours, logo file or voice rules from the MCP tools | A Brief with colours, type, the logo file and references; made with Claude’s tools or Rainbrand’s optional AI Gateway, then reviewed |
Rainbrand’s Claude setup page walks through a real run of that kind for Heart Aerospace, which builds electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. One Brief covered an investor email, a cover image and a five-slide deck. The first Review of the cover failed copy because the lettering by the cockpit came out garbled. Claude removed the lettering and kept only the symbol, and the next Review passed copy.

First Review: copy failed

After two edits: copy passed
The difference is who does the work. With Writer, Claude gets a finished file back from Writer’s agent; with Rainbrand, the agent doing the work gets the brand itself, which matters most for work that never passes through Writer, such as a landing page built in Cursor. How to give Claude Code and Cursor your brand covers the coding side.
| Writer | Rainbrand | |
|---|---|---|
| Where work happens | WRITER Agent and playbooks | The agents and tools you already use |
| Outside agents get | Playbook runs over MCP; brand access in early access | A Brief: the guidance and assets for the task |
| Checking work | Writing checks in Writer, Docs, Word and Figma | Review checks work against the brand |
| Changes | Edit the brand; changes apply on save | Describe the change, review the update, apply it |
| Pricing | Starter: per seat, up to five users, 14-day trial, no public price. Enterprise, needed for Enterprise Brain: through sales | Published self-serve plans |
To compare them on your own brand, run a small bakeoff with an agent connected to both:
Write the announcement email for our next release twice: once through a WRITER playbook, once with a Rainbrand Brief and Review. For each version, list the guidance used and where it came from, what breaks our voice and terminology rules, and what I’d still fix by hand. Then tell me which fits this work better.Building for your customers’ brands
Writer’s developer platform offers Palmyra models, Knowledge Graph and no-code agents through its API, and Agent Builder v2, in open beta, to run your own application inside Writer. Its older style guide and terminology endpoints are marked as being deprecated, and an API for creating or reading Enterprise Brain brands isn’t documented as of October 2026. If your product needs a separate brand per customer, ask Writer how that would work.
Rainbrand’s API is built for that: your product creates a brand for each customer from their website and files, then requests Briefs and Reviews against it, and the same brands reach agents through MCP. How to manage your customers’ brands in an AI product covers the design questions.
Moving your brand from Writer to Rainbrand
- Download the Enterprise Brain files your work depends on. Writer stores them as Markdown, with no one-click export of the whole brand.
- Add the brand to Rainbrand from those files, your logo and font files and your website, then check what it builds.
- Keep Writer for work that stays in WRITER Agent, playbooks or its writing checks. Nothing syncs, so a rule changed in Enterprise Brain needs a matching brand edit. Writer’s custom connectors can add an outside MCP server to WRITER Agent; try Rainbrand that way in your own account before planning around it.
Questions to settle before you buy
If most of your team’s AI work happens in Writer, or should, ask Writer’s sales team:
- whether your plan includes Enterprise Brain, and when its MCP access could reach your account;
- how your existing voices, style guides and terms will move into it, and whether the checks in Docs, Word and Figma use the migrated rules;
- whether agents outside Writer, or your own product, can read the brand through an API.
If your team keeps its own agents and tools, sign up, connect your agents and run the bakeoff above on your next release.
