Venmo’s voice
Venmo sounds friendly, direct, and conversational. It makes money tasks feel approachable by connecting them to social moments, while keeping instructions and product information plain and useful.
Use concise, everyday phrasing and a light touch of humor or personality where it fits. Make the benefit clear, then explain what to do in simple terms.
For financial, safety, eligibility, or product explanations, stay reassuring but precise. Qualify claims where terms or eligibility apply, and avoid implying that every payment or purchase is covered.
- “It’s an app where settling up feels like catching up, and where money enhances friendships rather than complicating them”
- “Venmo isn’t just about transactions. It’s about interactions”
- “Why wait to spend the money you've earned?”
- “Got a side gig?”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Use Venmo’s blue palette and keep the design clean, legible, and high contrast.
- Show the product in relatable everyday contexts: paying friends, sharing a meal, shopping, or running a small business.
- Use genuine, approachable language that connects financial tasks to real-life moments.
- Keep product screens clear and faithful to the Venmo experience when showing app features.
- State financial and protection benefits carefully, including relevant eligibility and terms.
Don’t
- Don’t distort, obscure, or treat the Venmo mark as an interface icon or decorative backdrop.
- Don’t make Venmo’s voice stiff, impersonal, or overloaded with financial jargon.
- Don’t suggest that Purchase Protection applies to every payment or purchase.
- Don’t show sensitive account or payment details as though Venmo shares them during checkout.
- Don’t present partner or payment-network marks as Venmo identity artwork.
Venmo imagery
53 images from venmo.com, in 6 files of the Brand Skill. Each file starts with its guidance, then shows the images it refers to.
Illustration
3 imagesIllustration can make practical money topics feel approachable. The financial education examples use simple, colorful scenes and clear visual metaphors, including gift-giving, goal-setting, and travel. Keep illustrations focused on one idea and use them to support, not obscure, the message.
Photography and lifestyle imagery
24 imagesUse warm, familiar situations that make money feel social and part of everyday life. Venmo marketing shows friends sharing meals, celebrating, shopping, and using phones; it also depicts customers and small-business owners in real settings. Favor natural interactions and keep the product context easy to understand.
Product and card imagery
4 imagesTreat Venmo’s own product imagery as part of the brand system. Show cards and product features clearly, with the app experience close at hand when it helps explain how the product works. Card designs can be colorful; keep their distinct designs legible and avoid implying a card color is universally available.
Product interface imagery
12 imagesShow the Venmo experience in context when explaining a feature. Interface visuals in Venmo marketing include payment activity, privacy controls, balances, cards, and checkout. Keep interface content readable and representative of the feature being described.
Backgrounds and share imagery
9 imagesVenmo uses dedicated backdrops and gradient-led graphic treatments alongside photography and interface imagery. Use these as supporting visual assets, not as substitutes for the standalone brand mark.
Website share and promotional images can extend the brand across product pages.
QR code imagery
1 imageQR codes appear in Venmo promotional layouts as a direct route to app or product actions. When including a QR code, preserve it as a functional asset and give it clear space and a clear call to action.
