Mercury’s voice
Write with confident clarity for people building and growing businesses. Favor plain language, compact sentences, and tangible benefits. Make complex financial work feel manageable without sounding grandiose.
Mercury’s voice is direct, optimistic, and human. It frames financial tools as a way to help ambitious builders move forward, while keeping the experience grounded in practical tasks and customer control.
- “Radically different banking”
- “Everything you do with money. All in one place”
- “Banking’s been a headache. Now, it’s a head start”
- “Get started fast. And never stop moving”
- “You’re creating something to stand the test of time. So are we”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Lead with a clear customer benefit and explain it in plain, direct language.
- Make financial tools feel useful and approachable; connect the product to the work founders need to get done.
- Emphasize transparency, ease, and customer control when describing product experiences.
- Keep financial claims precise and include the relevant conditions and qualifications.
- Set headlines in Arcadia Display, keep layouts in Mercury’s deep neutrals, and save the indigo for actions and accents.
Don’t
- Don’t describe Mercury as an FDIC-insured bank; describe it as a fintech company and qualify banking-service and deposit-insurance claims.
- Don’t imply investment products are bank deposits, FDIC-insured, guaranteed, or free from risk.
- Don’t present changing rates, pricing, eligibility, or product terms as universal or permanent.
- Don’t make the voice needlessly formal, vague, or jargon-heavy when plain language can explain the same idea.
- Don’t recolor the logo in indigo or other accents; keep it in Charcoal or Pale gray.
More from the Brand Skill
Imagery brand assets
Use Mercury’s own identity assets as identity material. Keep decorative brand graphics distinct from the logo.
Imagery marketing and illustration
Mercury’s marketing and editorial imagery spans product-led campaigns, business and finance illustrations, explanatory diagrams, and editorial graphics. Use the Mercury-created visual assets as brand imagery; keep any execution focused on the subject and avoid substituting unrelated partner identities for Mercury’s own.
Imagery product experience
Show Mercury’s own product as it is: real account dashboards, workflows, cards, and financial-management interfaces. Preserve the identifying interface context in product imagery and make product features legible.
Imagery photography
Use genuine founder, customer, and team photography to give Mercury’s financial products a human context. Keep the people and the product experience they represent at the center of the image.
