MLB’s voice
Write with the energy of a day at the ballpark: welcoming, fan-first, conversational, and rooted in baseball. Speak directly to fans, make the next step clear, and balance excitement with useful information. MLB’s own copy pairs an easy invitation with practical direction: “Your one-stop shop for getting out to the ballpark.” “After you grab your tickets, download the MLB Ballpark app to manage your tickets and personalize your trip with check-in, offers, rewards and exclusive content. See you at the ballgame!” “Grab your friends, families, and any other groups for a day out at the ballpark this summer.”
When writing about community programs, carry that welcome beyond the game itself. MLB describes its community platform as bringing people together through shared values and causes.
- “Your one-stop shop for getting out to the ballpark.”
- “See you at the ballgame!”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Use the league’s own marks to represent MLB; keep club identities distinct from the league identity.
- Give digital content a clear, readable hierarchy, using MLB’s established heading, body, and link styles.
- Address fans in a warm, direct voice and make useful next steps easy to understand.
- Design digital experiences with accessibility and inclusion in mind.
Don’t
- Don’t present a club’s identity as the MLB league mark.
- Don’t obscure important information with unclear hierarchy or hard-to-read text.
- Don’t use copy that leaves fans unsure what to do next when a clear action can be stated.
