About Formula 1

Formula 1’s voice
Write with the pace and confidence of a live sport, but make the subject easy to follow. Speak directly to fans, lead with the action or question, and explain technical or sporting detail in clear language. Keep the energy lively without sacrificing useful information.
Formula 1’s copy pairs short, emphatic lines with welcoming explanations. Examples include “New to Formula 1? This is all you need to know about our exhilarating sport.”, “F1 is fast! Day or night. Rain or shine.”, and “You’ve got questions – we’ve got answers...”
For longer storytelling, build momentum through concrete setbacks, decisions, competition, and outcomes. Use specific facts to make the drama credible, and keep fans close to the people and moments in the sport.

Dos and don’ts
Do
- Use F1 Red as a focused accent and keep supporting layouts clear and easy to scan.
- Use the red wordmark as the default identity and the white wordmark where contrast calls for it.
- Make headlines direct and energetic; pair a vivid hook with clear explanatory copy.
- Bring the sport to life with authentic racing, driver, team, circuit, and fan imagery, chosen to suit the story.
Don’t
- Don’t substitute partner or team marks for Formula 1’s own identity.
- Don’t let decorative effects or dense copy obscure the message or make key information hard to scan.
- Don’t make copy so technical or insider-focused that new fans cannot follow it.
- Don’t make every story sound like a race-day headline; keep factual reporting clear and grounded in its subject.
Formula 1 imagery
188 images from formula1.com, in 2 files of the Brand Skill. Each file starts with its guidance, then shows the images it refers to.
Imagery editorial
114 imagesEditorial and campaign imagery
Use Formula 1’s broad editorial image language to tell the story of the sport: close racing, drivers and teams, celebrations, circuits, technical detail, and fans. Favor a strong, legible subject and a sense of movement or occasion. News, results, and video tiles use photography as an entry point to specific stories rather than as generic decoration.
Video and news imagery spans race highlights, onboard action, interviews, radio, driver profiles, and event galleries. Keep thumbnails tied to their specific subject and editorial context.
Use images to bring context to explainer content, driver journeys, and season or event calendars. Let the photograph or graphic carry the story; keep headlines and explanatory text distinct.
Imagery product
74 imagesProduct and interface imagery
Formula 1’s digital products combine live race information, stats, standings, schedules, video, and subscription features. Preserve the visual language of those experiences: clear hierarchy, structured data, useful labels, and imagery that supports the user’s task. Race and results views place drivers, teams, dates, and performance data in organized lists or cards; live timing emphasizes immediate access to session details and multiple data views.
Driver and team cards use portraits, team details, and car imagery within a consistent Formula 1 information experience. Use these examples to inform data-rich card layouts without treating the team identities as Formula 1 marks.
