WhatsApp’s voice
WhatsApp’s voice is direct, warm, and human. Lead with the benefit to people and their relationships; explain privacy and product capabilities plainly. Speak to the reader as “you,” and favor familiar everyday language over technical exposition.
- “Behind every product decision is our desire to let people communicate anywhere in the world without barriers”
- “With private messaging and calling, you can be yourself, speak freely and feel close to the most important people in your life no matter where they are”
- “Go beyond words to share your everyday with the ones closest to you”
- “Your privacy is our priority”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Keep the WhatsApp logo and standalone symbol recognizable when using them as brand identity.
- Use WhatsApp green as the signature accent and maintain legible contrast.
- Write warmly and plainly about how the product helps people connect, communicate, and manage their privacy.
- Use first-person brand language and address readers directly when it suits the message.
Don’t
- Treat product UI, app icons, backdrops, photography, or promotional imagery as substitutes for the brand’s logo or standalone mark.
- Make privacy or security claims stronger than the product copy supports.
- Let technical details obscure the everyday benefit to people.
