About Target

Target is a general merchandise retailer with stores and digital shopping experiences spanning everyday essentials, home, apparel, food, and seasonal occasions. Its brand pairs an accessible, curated shopping experience with the signature “Expect More. Pay Less.”

Use Target’s standalone Bullseye as the primary symbol. Use the red-and-white mark on clean, uncluttered backgrounds and preserve its recognizable concentric-circle construction.

Target’s footer also uses a wordmark-and-tagline lockup. Keep “Expect More. Pay Less.” with that lockup when reproducing it; do not treat the tagline as part of the standalone symbol.

Target’s voice

Write in a warm, upbeat, practical voice. Make shopping feel easy and discovery feel inviting; speak directly to the reader and connect style, value, and usefulness. Use short, energetic headlines and concise supporting copy.

  • “Expect More. Pay Less.”
  • “Discover 800+ new home essentials. Think elevated style & timeless design for every room in your home”
  • “The membership that unlocks the best of Target”
  • “Bring Home Holiday Magic”
  • “Make it merry together”

Dos and don’ts

Do

  • Use Target red as a distinctive accent and pair it with white, charcoal text, and quiet neutral surfaces.
  • Keep the Bullseye clear and recognizable; use the wordmark-and-tagline lockup when that complete signature is needed.
  • Lead with a useful benefit or inviting idea, then make the next step easy to understand.
  • Write directly to the shopper in a friendly, upbeat voice. Use concise headlines and plain, helpful supporting copy.
  • Keep promotional terms and qualifiers close to the offer they describe.

Don’t

  • Don’t distort, redraw, or visually clutter the Bullseye.
  • Don’t let promotions, badges, or decorative elements overpower the main message or product.
  • Don’t present prices, savings, eligibility, availability, or delivery terms as universal when they depend on the offer or location.
  • Don’t use stiff, dense copy when a clear, conversational sentence will do.

More from the Brand Skill

Imagery

Use bright, welcoming retail imagery that helps shoppers imagine products and occasions in their lives. Target’s seasonal pages combine a clear editorial lead, browsable category imagery, and curated discoveries. Festive treatments range from cozy, classic home scenes to colorful, playful holiday details; treat each seasonal treatment as campaign-specific rather than a universal color or styling rule.

For gifting and registries, use warm, celebratory visuals and approachable imagery that supports a range of recipients, occasions, and ways to give. The Diwali campaign presents its celebration through dedicated editorial and category imagery; keep culturally specific creative respectful and relevant to the occasion.

Use seasonal campaign art to signal the occasion quickly, then support it with useful category choices and clear offer communication. Halloween campaigns pair a seasonal lead with browseable categories and deal-focused creative.

For broad retail browsing, keep imagery easy to scan and organized around categories, newness, and featured collections. Target’s home and Threshold pages show how category tiles and seasonal highlights can lead into product discovery.

Digital Experience

Target’s digital experience should make common shopping tasks feel straightforward. Keep essential actions prominent, use consistent navigation and clear product information, and show helpful states when a shopper has no items saved or needs to sign in. The cart and pickup experiences use simple illustrations and practical next steps.

Membership and loyalty pages use benefit-led content, compact explanatory visuals, and prominent next steps. When presenting a particular offer, keep its conditions and eligibility clear alongside the benefit.

Use Target-created campaign tiles and offer graphics to help shoppers compare promotions or move into a relevant category. Treat prices, savings, and deal details as variable; verify the current offer and its restrictions before publishing.
