Rapha’s voice
Rapha’s voice is assured, purposeful, and rooted in the lived experience of riding. It can move from evocative, reflective storytelling to precise, practical product language. Use short, decisive headlines; make technical benefits concrete; and connect performance to the people and communities behind the ride.
- “The bike itself is a force for good, but the kit we ride in still leaves a footprint”
- “The Rapha Cycling Club is where your most meaningful rides begin”
- “The end of your road is the beginning of another”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Pair performance-minded language with a clear human purpose: the ride, the effort, the community, or the place.
- Use vivid, economical headlines, then support them with specific, useful detail.
- Keep product claims concrete and grounded in the feature being described.
- Give editorial stories room for atmosphere and cultural context while keeping practical guidance direct.
- Use the established type contrast: condensed sans-serif for strong headings and serif families for editorial reading.
Don’t
- Don’t make the voice generic, overblown, or detached from real riding.
- Don’t bury a useful technical detail beneath vague claims about performance.
- Don’t flatten reflective storytelling into product copy; keep the human and cultural context where the subject calls for it.
- Don’t redraw, stretch or recolor the script wordmark, or set it on a busy photo where it loses legibility.
More from the Brand Skill
Imagery
Rapha imagery spans three useful visual registers: cinematic cycling and landscape storytelling, intimate editorial and community scenes, and clear product-focused photography. Choose imagery that feels connected to actual riding and the people who ride; use product views to show construction, fit, and details rather than as generic decoration.
Brand and campaign references
Brand and campaign imagery includes homepage campaign imagery, editorial, and sustainability storytelling.
Team AMANI and related editorial imagery are context-specific references. Their cultural patterns and campaign treatment belong to that collection, not to every Rapha design.
USA Cycling and Lightspeed campaign images are specific to that team collection.
The RCC stripes and kit imagery is specific to Rapha Cycling Club communication.
Product and experience references
Use product imagery to inform presentation of fabric, garment form, and functional details. Preserve Rapha’s product and membership experience when designing or depicting those experiences.
Product and editorial design
Rapha’s product communication balances technical precision with a sense of ambition. Describe a garment through its purpose, conditions, construction, fit, and functional details. When making editorial work, connect cycling to place, culture, and shared effort; keep those themes specific to the story rather than turning them into universal visual motifs.
Rapha product photography and its shopping experience show garments as identifiable products, supported by clear variants, product details, and focused feature explanations. Keep product presentation clean and let the garment’s color, silhouette, materials, and functional details remain legible.
The RCC stripes are a club-specific identity cue: the vertical stripes on its Pro Team Jersey reinterpret horizontal bars from the debut RCC kit. Use that language in RCC contexts, not as an all-purpose Rapha motif.
Overshoe guide imagery
For product guidance, use a clear sequence of product, fit, and care imagery. The Rapha overshoe guide combines concise explanatory sections with visual demonstrations of the product and its use. Keep this instructional imagery within the overshoe-guide context.
