Mill’s voice
Write in a warm, direct, optimistic voice. Make the product’s everyday convenience tangible, then connect it to the larger food-waste mission without sounding preachy. Favor plain language, concrete benefits, and the occasional playful turn of phrase.
- “It turns waste into a resource while you sleep”
- “The easy way to waste less and smell nothing”
- “No smells, no mess, and no fruit flies”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Make the benefits easy to picture in daily life: less smell, less mess, and a simple routine.
- Pair practical product storytelling with the broader aim of keeping food in the food system.
- Use clear, approachable language and grounded optimism.
- Keep product claims accurate and specific to the model or offer being described.
- Set headlines in Rhymes and body and interface text in Jane, on warm stone backgrounds with Mill’s greens.
Don’t
- Don’t call Mill Food Grounds compost; describe them as grounds or a resource that can be used in a composting process.
- Don’t promise an evergreen money-back guarantee duration; offers and eligibility can differ.
- Don’t overstate environmental outcomes or present estimates as guarantees.
- Don’t let mission-led copy obscure what the product does or how it fits into a kitchen routine.
More from the Brand Skill
Product language
Describe Mill as a food recycler that dries and grinds food scraps into Food Grounds. The process runs automatically, usually overnight, and reduces food-scrap volume. Food Grounds are not finished compost: explain that they can be added to a composting process, soil, or other suitable pathways.
Describe sustainability benefits with care. When using impact figures, keep their stated context and qualifications; do not present estimates as guaranteed outcomes.
Product features vary by model. Confirm the model before describing capacity, height, lid operation, filter life, finishes, or safety-lock features.
Social proof imagery
Use customer and press imagery only when a brief calls for reviews, testimonials, or coverage. Keep any third-party identity contained in its original context rather than treating it as part of Mill’s own identity.
Brand graphics
Use Mill’s own explanatory graphics and benefit icons to make the product’s operation and outcomes quick to understand. Keep diagrams simple and legible, with a clear relationship between food scraps, the overnight process, and Food Grounds.
Food grounds imagery
Show Food Grounds as a useful material with a clear connection to gardens, soil, chickens, and community food systems. Keep the visual story grounded in food and real use rather than treating the grounds as finished compost.
Lifestyle imagery
Show Mill in lived-in kitchens and everyday routines. Natural home settings, people preparing food, and the appliance alongside familiar kitchen fixtures make the product feel approachable and integrated into daily life.
Product imagery
Show Mill appliances as considered, useful kitchen products: clean silhouettes, restrained finishes, and clear views of the bin, lid, and product details. Preserve the distinction between Mill Plus and Mill Essential when the brief calls for a specific model.
