About Duolingo

Duolingo is a global learning brand that makes education feel fun, approachable, and effective. Its identity pairs a bright, friendly spirit with bite-sized learning, playful characters, and a focus on research-backed progress.

Use the lowercase duolingo logotype as the brand signature, in Feather Green, white or gray only. Its custom letterforms come from Duo: the flick on the g mirrors his eyebrows. Keep clear space around it and never use it below its minimum size.

The lockup that places Duo beside the logotype helps where Duo’s recognizability aids brand awareness, such as press, events and partner spaces. Keep Duo and the logotype at their fixed distance, and never let Duo touch or sit on the logotype.

Duolingo’s voice

Write with cheerful confidence and make learning feel achievable. Duolingo’s voice is expressive, playful, embracing and worldly; the tone adapts to how the audience feels, but always stays clear, human and relaxed. Keep writing short and use words everyone understands.

  • “Everyone can Duolingo”
  • “Language belongs to everyone. With Duolingo, so does language learning”
  • “We put the fun in language fundamentals”
  • “Duolingo is the world’s #1 way to learn a language”

Dos and don’ts

Do

  • Lean in to Feather Green; it is the color the world associates with Duolingo.
  • Set Feather headlines in lowercase and left-aligned, and switch to DIN Next Rounded once a headline runs past 10 words.
  • Pair energetic, playful language with clear explanations of what learners can do and achieve.
  • Build illustrations from rounded rectangles, circles and rounded triangles.

Don’t

  • Don’t recreate the logotype in another font, skew it, or change its spacing or proportions; only 0° and 90° rotations are allowed.
  • Don’t combine Feather and DIN Next Rounded in the same sentence.
  • Don’t use humor or playfulness in a way that belittles learners or their mistakes.
  • Don’t present learning claims as stronger or more universal than the research supports.

More from the Brand Skill

Course imagery

Course artwork helps learners recognize subjects and courses at a glance. Keep each course image associated with its intended subject and preserve the recognizable visual treatment when using it in course discovery, navigation, or learning materials.

Product experience imagery

Use Duolingo’s product imagery to show learning in action: clear screens, approachable lessons, step-by-step help, and visible progress. Preserve the appearance of Duolingo’s own app and learning experiences when creating product-focused work. Keep interface imagery legible and use it in a context that makes its purpose clear.

Marketing imagery

Duolingo’s marketing imagery brings learning to life through bright, expressive scenes, bold shapes, and playful character moments. Use this approach for the brand’s own campaigns and storytelling. Keep product-specific or campaign-specific art in its original context when adapting the visual approach.

Character imagery

Duolingo’s characters bring warmth and personality to learning stories. Use expressive poses and interactions to make educational moments feel lively and encouraging. Keep the characters recognizable and use character art in ways that support the learning context rather than overpowering it.

Research imagery

Use researcher portraits in research and team contexts, alongside accurate names and professional information. These portraits support editorial presentation of Duolingo’s research team; they are not general-purpose campaign art.
