US Air Force’s voice
Write with purpose, confidence, and forward momentum. Tie individual opportunity to the larger mission of service. Keep the tone welcoming to people exploring different roles and ways to serve, while maintaining the seriousness of the work. Use direct, active language and short, energetic headlines.
- “The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win - airpower anytime, anywhere”
- “There are many ways to build your skills and earn while you serve in the U.S. Air Force”
- “The Air Force provides an incredible variety of opportunities to earn degrees and complete competitive training”
- “The strength of our military is our unity and our shared purpose”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Connect personal potential and career growth to service and mission.
- Use active, assured language that makes the next step feel achievable.
- Show Airmen at work and in community, family, learning, and service contexts.
- Use the signature palette with the website’s white and deep-navy interface colors in their established roles.
- Keep component identities specific to the component being represented.
Don’t
- Reduce the voice to recruitment slogans without explaining the purpose, opportunity, or human value behind them.
- Present service as a single path; the brand speaks to different careers and full-time, part-time, and other ways to contribute.
- Let visual spectacle replace people, skill, or mission as the focus.
- Use a component mark as though it were the primary Air Force identity.
