About PostHog
PostHog is a developer-first product platform that brings analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, and related tools together so teams can understand and improve their products. Its brand pairs a practical, technical foundation with an approachable, playful streak: clear product communication, warm hedgehog characters, and a willingness to make even serious topics entertaining.

Use the standard full-color logo, the gradient hedgehog logomark beside the PostHog wordmark, by default on light backgrounds. On dark or colored backgrounds, always use the white logo, never the full-color one. Use the black logo only when a single-color mark is needed on a light background, and the stacked logo for tall or square spaces.
Use the logomark on its own only at small sizes, such as favicons, app icons and avatars. Never recolor parts of it, such as turning the hedgehog’s face white on a dark background. Leave clear space at least the height of the “P” in PostHog around the logo, and don’t use the full logo below 80 px wide.

PostHog’s voice
Write plainly, directly, and with a friendly, self-aware sense of humor. PostHog can make technical details accessible without talking down to its audience. Prefer specific explanations and useful context; use a joke or unexpected turn to add personality, not to obscure the point.
The voice is candid and informal, often addressing readers directly. It can be cheerfully blunt, lightly irreverent, or deliberately odd, while remaining clear about what the product does and what the reader should do next.
For serious topics, keep the information legible and accurate, then use plain-language summaries or a light touch to make it easier to engage with. Do not let humor blur important distinctions.
- “PostHog is the context layer for your product”
- “If nothing else has sold you on PostHog, hopefully these classic marketing tactics will”
- “We don’t do sleazy marketing or sales tactics”
- “We don’t want to be another boring B2B SaaS company”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Keep the palette limited: warm off-white backgrounds, near-black text, and red, yellow or blue used sparingly, with solid backgrounds rather than gradients.
- Use RoundHog for headings and body copy, Squeak in uppercase bold only alongside hedgehog art, and Source Code Pro for code.
- Make technical messages direct and useful; explain the product in terms of what people can do with it.
- Add wit, unusual ideas, and friendly informality where they help make the message memorable.
- Use PostHog’s own logo and its hand-drawn hedgehog artwork to make brand work recognizably PostHog.
- Keep serious information clear even when presenting it playfully.
Don’t
- Don’t let jokes or quirky presentation make product or legal information unclear.
- Don’t make the voice sound stiff, vague, or detached from the people building products.
- Don’t use humor as a substitute for a specific explanation or practical next step.
- Don’t imitate generic enterprise software language when a direct, human explanation will do.
- Don’t put the full-color logo on a dark background or recolor parts of the logomark; use the white logo instead.
- Don’t use AI-generated hedgehog art or redraw Max, the hedgehog mascot.
More from the Brand Skill
Brand foundation
PostHog exists to equip every developer to build successful products. It brings product context and the tools to act on it together, helping teams understand users, make better product decisions, and move from shipping to observing and iterating.
Speak to engineers and product teams as capable people who want to build, learn, and ship. Emphasize practical outcomes, connected context, and useful tools in one place. The brand is ambitious about what software teams can accomplish, while staying grounded in the work of building successful products.
PostHog values ownership, transparency, unusual ideas, proactive action, and optimism. Use those as creative cues: be candid, share useful context, take a distinctive angle, and make the next step feel possible.
Brand world and campaign imagery
PostHog’s marketing imagery balances playful, oddball concepts with practical product storytelling. Use unexpected props, retro or physical-world metaphors, and bold editorial scenes when they reinforce the point. Background treatments include light and dark backgrounds, textured surfaces, and spacious warm-neutral settings. These are visual options, not requirements for every composition.
Hedgehog characters
Use PostHog’s expressive hedgehog characters to make technical subjects feel approachable and memorable. The characters often act out the product idea: presenting findings, inspecting traces, filming replays, taking surveys, or toggling a feature flag. Keep the concept legible and let the character’s action carry the joke or story.
Product interface imagery
Use authentic PostHog product screens to show the platform in context. Interface imagery includes analytics views, replay timelines, survey tooling, AI observability traces, feature flag controls, and editor or MCP experiences. Preserve the recognizable product experience when using these captures; do not replace it with a generic analytics dashboard.
