Mazda’s voice
Write with a human-centered sense of movement and possibility. Mazda’s voice connects the physical experience of driving to emotional uplift, everyday life, craft, and care. Keep statements clear and purposeful; pair ambition with tangible human meaning.
Use complete, emotionally grounded phrases such as “Every time you see the car, your heart is stirred. Every time you drive, your heart flutters.”
Use people-first language such as “We believe in the power of people and do our best to unlock their true potential.”
For technology, express the benefit as well as the innovation: “To uplift experiences, emotionally and physically, Mazda evolves and deepens ‘Joy of Driving’ based on human-centered values.”
When discussing sustainability or safety, communicate a credible commitment in measured language. Emphasize the intended contribution and human outcome without turning aims into guaranteed results.
- “We believe in the power of people and do our best to unlock their true potential”
Dos and don’ts
Do
- Put people, their freedom of movement, and their emotional experience at the center of the work.
- Express driving as a source of joy that can enrich everyday life.
- Show craft and purposeful simplicity; let form, light, and material communicate quality.
- Pair technical innovation with its human benefit, including comfort, confidence, safety, or environmental contribution.
- Write with warmth, empathy, and personal care.
Don’t
- Present the car as merely a machine or treat technical specifications as the whole story.
- Add unnecessary visual elements where restraint and space can communicate more.
- Make the brand feel cold, impersonal, or disconnected from the people who use its products and services.
- State future goals or sustainability aims as already accomplished facts.

Brand foundation
Mazda’s purpose is to enrich life-in-motion for those it serves. Its 2030 vision is to be a car-loving company that creates moving experiences through the Joy of Driving. Treat driving as a source of freedom, emotional connection, and fuller everyday life—not merely a vehicle feature.
Put people at the center of the work. Mazda describes its approach as human-centric: understand people, support their ability to function at their best, and make safety and peace of mind the foundation for confident mobility. Show both emotional uplift and practical human benefit.
Mazda’s innovation spans Monozukuri, the art of car-making; Tsunagarizukuri, creating human connections; and Hitozukuri, developing people. Bring craftsmanship, customer connection, and human potential together rather than presenting technology as an end in itself.
Balance Mazda’s challenger spirit and technical ambition with warmth, care, and personal attention. Its values include Radically Human, Challenger Spirit, and Omotenashi—serving from the heart.
When sustainability is relevant, connect environmental responsibility to the long-term coexistence of people, vehicles, and a beautiful Earth; connect social responsibility to safe, unrestricted mobility and thriving communities.
Design philosophy
Mazda’s Kodo design aims to breathe life into the car. Seek a dynamic, poised form that feels capable of motion even when stationary, and a presence that can stir emotion without relying on excess ornament.
Use restraint and space in keeping with “less is more” Japanese aesthetics. Let delicate, subtle expressions of light reveal the form. Favor simplicity and elegance, with every element earning its place.
Treat the car as an experience with human warmth, not simply a machine. Craft, attention to detail, and a sense of comfort should make the vehicle feel considered and personal.
Mazda’s TAKUMINURI paint technology is described through the changing expression of color as surrounding scenery and light move across the body. When depicting finish, emphasize nuanced reflections and the distinctive impression of seeing the car in its setting.
