# How to check AI images against your brand guidelines

An AI image can look right and still carry a redrawn logo, a near-miss colour or a misspelt headline. What to check, how to turn each guideline into a pass or fail, and where software can do the checking.

## TL;DR

Compare the final image with exact logo, colour, font, copy and product references. Make each rule checkable and record pass, fail, uncertain or not applicable. Automate what you can measure, inspect visual judgments and unresolved findings, and verify product accuracy before publishing.

## Where AI images go wrong

[OpenAI documents](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/image-generation) limits in text, recurring brand elements and composition. Check the final output, not just its prompt.

| Element | Reference |
| --- | --- |
| Logo | Original approved artwork and usage rules |
| Colour | Palette values and permitted roles |
| Type | Actual-font specimen and approved weights |
| Copy | Exact required text |
| Product | Current photos/UI, including labels and controls |
| Composition/fit | Placement rules and approved/rejected examples |

Exact colours and fonts are easier to inspect in editable files. Compression, antialiasing and missing font metadata can leave flattened-image findings uncertain.

## Turn each guideline into a pass or fail

Name the element, reference and passing condition. For example:

- Match flat text/background colours to permitted palette roles.
- Compare logo variant, clear space and minimum size with its source.
- Compare letterforms and weight with a specimen from the actual font.
- Read required copy verbatim, including small print.
- Reject invented product details against the approved image.

For photographs, compare approved lighting/style examples rather than requiring every pixel to match a hex value.

Allow **uncertain** when evidence is insufficient and **not applicable** when an element is absent. Test rules on known accepted/rejected images; inspect disagreements and clarify vague criteria.

[Applying brand guidelines](https://www.rainbrand.com/blog/apply-brand-guidelines-to-ai-images/) covers preparing the model before creation.

## Check an image by hand

1. Open the original logo, palette, font specimens, product images and exact copy.
2. Inspect at publication size. Sample flat colours, compare the logo at half opacity and read every letter.
3. Check the product’s shape, controls, finish and packaging against current sources.
4. Inspect crop, space for copy and brand fit beside approved examples.
5. Record each finding and send uncertainty with the evidence needed to decide it.

Where accessibility rules apply, [WCAG](https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG22/Understanding/contrast-minimum.html) requires 4.5:1 for ordinary text/images of text and 3:1 for large text (18pt, or 14pt bold). Logo text is exempt.

## Can AI check AI images?

A vision assistant can read text and compare visible elements, but estimation is not measurement. [Anthropic](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/build-with-claude/vision) describes approximate localization and calls for verification; [OpenAI](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/images-vision) warns that descriptions can be wrong.

Ask an agent with code tools to sample actual pixels when exact values matter. Trial any checker on images you have already judged, including failures.

Look for your actual references, a result per check, honest uncertainty, evidence behind verdicts and support for exports from your creation tools. [Testing agents](https://www.rainbrand.com/blog/test-whether-ai-agents-follow-brand-guidelines/) covers repeated evaluation.

## Software that checks against brand guidelines

Confirm how externally created images enter a platform; do not assume its native checks cover any file. Test the specific findings your workflow needs. The [software comparison](https://www.rainbrand.com/blog/best-brand-compliance-software/) covers the buying decision.

## How Rainbrand Review works

Rainbrand maintains the brand context: a [Brief](https://docs.rainbrand.com/guides/request-brief) supplies task guidance/assets, and [Review](https://docs.rainbrand.com/guides/request-review) checks work against the brand.

1. Use a [connected agent](https://docs.rainbrand.com/mcp/getting-started) or [API request](https://docs.rainbrand.com/api-reference/reviews/request-a-review).
2. Identify the brand, one image and colour, typography, logo, copy or all checks.
3. Supply the image by public link, [upload](https://docs.rainbrand.com/guides/upload-files) or existing Rainbrand image.
4. Include purpose, exact copy, constraints and supporting reference images.
5. Inspect verdicts, reasons and evidence; revise confirmed failures with your creation tools and request another Review.

If the brand changed since creation, decide whether to update the work and request a fresh Brief before remaking it.

Ask your agent

```
Use Rainbrand to review the attached image against [your brand]. Check colour, typography, logo and copy, using the supplied exact text and placement constraints. Show me each finding with its evidence. Then fix confirmed failures and review the revised image, up to two rounds. Stop and show me anything uncertain or requiring a brand decision before publication.
```

For Eager, a juice brand, Claude used Rainbrand for a blackcurrant-flavour campaign concept. Its page headline copied the task’s purple carton colour, but purple was not an allowed text colour:

![Before: Eager page headline in unapproved purple](https://www.rainbrand.com/examples/eager/review/loop-round-1-v1.webp)

Claude changed the headline to black; the next colour check passed it:

![After: the same Eager page headline corrected to black](https://www.rainbrand.com/examples/eager/review/loop-round-2-v1.webp)

These are matching captures. The carton was deliberately purple; only the failed headline needed correcting. The [full example](https://www.rainbrand.com/examples/eager/) retains the other work and findings.

Products can [run the same loop through the API](https://docs.rainbrand.com/getting-started/embed-into-your-product) with retry limits. Briefs and Reviews use credits; see [Pricing](https://www.rainbrand.com/pricing).

## Who checks what

Run measurable checks on each image, and keep product accuracy and judgment with people who know the brand. A corrected logo does not establish that a generated interface is accurate.

Send altered features, unsupported claims and uncertainty back with their source assets before release. [Pre-publication review](https://www.rainbrand.com/blog/review-ai-content-before-publishing/) and [client approval](https://www.rainbrand.com/blog/client-approval-for-ai-brand-work/) cover that handoff.

To try it, [connect Rainbrand](https://docs.rainbrand.com/mcp/getting-started), [add your brand](https://docs.rainbrand.com/guides/create-brand) and review an image you have already judged. Compare its findings with yours.
